What is your car doing?
You don't need to know what's wrong.

Tell us the symptom in your own words. Working out the cause is our job — that's what the diagnosis is for.

Difficult faults

When nobody can work out what's wrong

Intermittent faults, warning lights that come and go, and problems another workshop has already been paid to look at. This is the work we take on.

Start with the diagnosis, not the parts counter

Replacing parts until the symptom disappears is expensive guesswork. We find the fault first — then you know what you're actually paying to fix.

Second opinions welcome

If another workshop has already looked at your car, bring us what they found. Knowing what's been checked and replaced saves diagnostic time and stops you paying twice for the same tests.

Electronic and mechanical, not one or the other

Dual-clutch transmissions and mechatronic units fail in ways that look mechanical and read electronic. Diagnosing them takes both sides of the trade.

When a strip-and-assess is needed, you hear it first

Some engine and gearbox faults can only be confirmed once the unit is removed and opened for internal assessment. If that's needed we explain the strip-and-assess step, and its cost, before we start — and you always get a repair quote before any repair goes ahead.

The Engine Shop / Vision Motors

We don't send engine work anywhere else

Most independent workshops sub-contract engine reconditioning out and mark it up. We run a separate engine shop of our own — where rebuilds and reconditioning are actually done.

A second premises, not a corner of the workshop

Engine work has its own building, its own benches and its own equipment. That is what lets us take on full rebuilds rather than just fitting parts somebody else machined.

Rebuilt and reconditioned in-house

Petrol and diesel engines for cars, bakkies and commercial vehicles — stripped, measured and rebuilt on our own benches, not sent away and marked up.

Do yourself a favor, take a walk through their engine overall room, go and check the work that they do. It's proper, it's sufficient.

Why Vision Motors

No surprises on the invoice

The most common complaint about workshops isn't the repair — it's finding out afterwards what it cost and why.

01

Nothing gets done without your say-so

We diagnose the fault, explain it in plain language and quote you. Work starts when you approve it — not before.

02

You'll understand what's actually wrong

No jargon and no hand-waving. We show you the fault and talk you through what it means for your car.

03

Your car comes back the way it went in

Seat and carpet protection while we work, and your vehicle returned clean.

Your right to choose

Still under warranty? You can still choose your workshop.

Since 1 July 2021, the Competition Commission's guidelines for the South African automotive aftermarket have set out your right to have your vehicle serviced where you choose — including at an independent workshop — while it is still under warranty.

01

Your choice of workshop

Manufacturers should not obstruct your choice of service provider, whether that is an approved dealer or an independent workshop.

Guideline 5.4.1

02

Your choice of parts

You may have original or suitable non-original spare parts fitted at a service provider of your choice during the in-warranty period.

Guideline 10.8.1

03

Your service record stays intact

Independent workshops are required to record in-warranty work in your service book, so your vehicle's service history stays complete and traceable.

Guideline 5.4.5

The honest caveat

These guidelines are not binding law, and they do not make a warranty untouchable. If work done by any independent workshop causes damage, the manufacturer may decline warranty cover for that specific failure — though the rest of your warranty remains enforceable. We record the work we do, and we will always tell you upfront where a repair carries risk.

Guidelines 1.1 and 5.4.8

It's almost been a year since Vision Motors fitted a recon engine, and I've received nothing but excellent service from Jacques and his team. There were a few small issues but they were sorted out immediately. I've had bad experiences with useless mechanics before, but I have so much respect for Vision Motors because of the service they supplied me over the past year. I highly recommend Jacques and his team.

Very good service, will always recommend them to all Ford and Mazda owners. Transparent with their vehicle reports, always have options to suit your pocket and won't charge you for something you don't need. Thank you Jacques for assisting me on a Sunday.

I just got my trust restored. Thank you Jacques and Andrew for friendly and professional service — I am highly impressed. Even the small change and an expensive torch I thought I'd lost somewhere were in the car when I collected it. I can honestly recommend Vision Motors for any possible repairs or service!

I was blown away when I saw that you actually take care of clients' cars by putting a plastic cover over the seat and a cover on the carpet so it doesn't get dirty — and you guys actually washed my car! Mitchell, job well done. I will go out of my way to suggest Vision Motors to all of my friends and family.

The process

Four steps, no surprises

    We find the actual fault

We diagnose the problem properly rather than replacing parts and hoping. If another workshop has already looked at it, tell us what they found.

You get a quote, and you decide

We explain what's wrong in plain language and what it costs to put right. Nothing gets done until you approve it.

  4. 04

We do the work and you collect

The repair is carried out and the work is recorded. Your car is protected while it's with us and returned clean.
