Your right to choose
Still under warranty? You can still choose your workshop.
Your choice of workshop
Manufacturers should not obstruct your choice of service provider, whether that is an approved dealer or an independent workshop.
Guideline 5.4.1
Your choice of parts
You may have original or suitable non-original spare parts fitted at a service provider of your choice during the in-warranty period.
Guideline 10.8.1
Your service record stays intact
Independent workshops are required to record in-warranty work in your service book, so your vehicle's service history stays complete and traceable.
Guideline 5.4.5
The honest caveat
These guidelines are not binding law, and they do not make a warranty untouchable. If work done by any independent workshop causes damage, the manufacturer may decline warranty cover for that specific failure — though the rest of your warranty remains enforceable. We record the work we do, and we will always tell you upfront where a repair carries risk.
Guidelines 1.1 and 5.4.8
This is general information, not legal advice. Warranty terms differ between manufacturers — check your own warranty documentation.
What about the work we do?
Warranty terms depend on the repair completed. Ask our team what applies to your vehicle. We record the work we carry out so your service history stays complete.
Still under warranty and not sure where you stand?
Phone the workshop and ask. We'll tell you straight, including where a repair carries risk.
